Gathering of Information
Double Maple collects personally-identifying information (such as your name, gender, age, location and e-mail address) from MUTigerChallenge.com for a variety of purposes.
Double Maple asks players to provide certain personal information when they register for the game site. All content that you submit to MUTigerChallenge.com may become public, including the full name and user name that you provide when registering for the game community. Content from the MU Tiger Challenge might be displayed on the websites, broadcasts, or print of our partner news organizations: KOMU TV and Columbia Missourian newspaper.
Like most other web servers, Double Maple's web server automatically creates log files for each visitor who accesses the game site. These "access logs" allow us to make our site more useful to our visitors. The access logs do NOT record a visitor's name, address, email address, credit card numbers, or any other personally-identifying information. Rather, they contain some or all of the following information:
- The Internet Protocol Address (IP Address) of the machine which accessed MUTigerChallenge.com
- General location information (based on IP Address)
- The date of the visit.
- The time of the visit.
- The path taken through MUTigerChallenge.com
- The browser being used.
- A list of files downloaded or viewed.
- The amount of time spent listening to/viewing media files.
- Any errors encountered.
Use of Information
The use of personally-identifying information is limited to the following: managing and administering MUTigerChallenge.com; responding to user messages; listing name and location (city, state and/or country) information provided by players when broadcasting or publishing the entries from game challenges; academic research purposes, including contacting players for an online survey or interview; sending MU Tiger Challenge-related email newsletters and other communications; and other purposes specified at the time the information is gathered. Double Maple may contact users regarding their submissions in certain circumstances.
Any information Double Maple collects through MUTigerChallenge.com will be shared with the Reynold's Journalism Institute to be used for academic research. This data may be given to approved researchers, and anonymized before publishing. Researcher approval is at the sole discretion of the Reynold's Journalism Institute.
Excluding information provided by the user when participating in the MU Tiger Challenge, which may become public as discussed above, personally-identifying information collected by Double Maple is not provided to outside parties.
If you do not want your personally-identifying information to be collected or used for any of these purposes, please do not provide it (although if you do not provide it, you may not be able to use or participate in the MU Tiger Challenge). You may also "opt out" using the process described below under "Corrections to Personal Data; Opting Out."
Double Maple has in place what we believe to be appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online. However, no internet, email or mobile transmission is ever fully secure or error free. Because most internet, email, and mobile transmissions are not encrypted, you should take special care in deciding what content you submit to us.
You must be at least 18 years old in order to participate in the MU Tiger Challenge, submit any entries for game challenges, create a profile on MUTigerChallenge.com, or receive any prizes. If you are under 18 years of age, please do not send any information about yourself, including your name, address or email address. If we discover that we have collected any personally-identifying information from a child under the age of 18, we will remove that information from our database as soon as possible.
Corrections to Personal Data; Opting Out
Please Contact Us to a) correct or update any personal information in the MU Tiger Challenge database that you state is erroneous, b) opt-out of future communications from MU Tiger Challenge, or c) request Double Maple to make reasonable efforts to remove your personal information from the MU Tiger Challenge database, thereby canceling your MU Tiger Challenge profile. This will not necessarily remove all previous public content from being displayed on MUTigerChallenge.com or its partner organizations' websites. The user understands that it may be impossible to delete personal information entirely because of backups and records of deletions.
